Reflection about the Horsemen Police in the UAE Summary

Mr. Hedley’s guidance was effective in terms of finding our way through the piece given to us. As we were told, we went through the title, the introduction and the conclusion to help us in summarizing the paper. 

It was a quite easy task to do. It talked about how the horsemen police do their patrols in the desert of Liwa; as well what kind challenges they face while roaming around, and what kind of violations they deal with. Moreover, we learnt about the procedures that horsemen police follow  in order not to exhaust the horses.  

In the end, my opinion about the piece is that vocabulary was an easy one since it was our first task to do.

Reflection about Car Accidents in the UAE Summary

About this summary, the vocabulary started to be a bit difficult; I learnt the meaning of some new words using the online dictionary that was recommended by Mr. Hedley.

The paper talked about the number of child deaths in the UAE, caused by careless parents not complying with rules and regulations of the Ministry of Interior.

 It taught us how important child safety-car seats are; and how it impacted the percentage of children’s deaths and injuries in the UAE.

We got to know that many organizations support children – safety seats by donating these seats; as well their effective contribution in programs designed to make aware parents and children.

Reflection about Pearl Diving In the UAE

In this summary, the difficulty of the vocabulary was an issue for me; I was struggling most of the time while summarizing this paper. However, I found my way through it since it was a short piece.

It basically talks about pearl diving in the UAE during the 1950s; and how Emiratis relied on it as a profitable business, till it started to fade away due to the appearance of the artificial pearl farming.

However, Emiratis embraced the idea of reviving the tradition of the UAE by starting a touring educational eco tour for tourists, which attracted the interest of Journalists.
