Summary About Car Accidents In The UAE

Summary About Car Accidents In The UAE
63 per cent of children’s deaths aged 14 and younger are caused by car accidents. Although the fact that the ministry of interior prohibits children younger than 10 years from sitting in the front passenger seat, 20 per cent of children still use the front seat.
There is a small percentage of children who are tied to child safety – car seats which made officials believe that using car seats made a marked change on the traffic injury and health rate in Dubai. The design of child safety – seats is only for infants and toddlers; and booster seats are for children above the age of four. There are car seats which are made to suit different stages of growth, weight and age; this should be born in mind when choosing the suitable child – car seat. The Safe Kids Worldwide programme was made in the USA to prevent childhood injuries; as well this programme helped to implement the law that children under 10 should use the back seat of the car.
The “Take Care” campaign is promoted by RTA, which educates children about road safety; as well it helps in stopping adults from bad habits.
2,134 were killed in the past 10 years, and 23,082 were injured. RTA is aiming to reduce deaths by 40 per cent by 2015.
AGNC and Chevrolet started to donate car seats to hospitals which is a good initiative from them to promote the seats; as well some of the donation of safety car seats are being donated during workshops and lectures.
